Mattress & Bed Tips :: Sleep Number Bed Reviews Sleep Number Bed Reviews: Common Bad Reviews and Complaints About the Sleep Number Comfort BedSleep Number Bed reviews and customer complaints are often numerous. Though Select Comfort bed puts a lot of money into advertising and marketing their Sleep Number mattresses, the customer complaints seem to keep pouring in. Unfortunately for Select Comfort, the problem may be adjustable air beds in general and not simply their Sleep Number model. Keep reading for a breakdown of some of the most common complaints found in Sleep Number bed reviews. Slow, but Steady Air Leaks Select Comfort assures its customers that the bed’s internal air bladders are secured from damage or everyday wear. The problem is, these bladders will, eventually, degrade and when that happens, you’ll get slow and steady air leaks. Most reviews say that as the latex breaks down over time, the air begins to escape. Eventually, owners have to refill the bed with air on a nightly basis to avoid a sagging bed. Obviously, this doesn’t happen with every Select Comfort air bed, but it’s a common complaint that often shows up in the mattress reviews. Mechanical Problems with the Valve and Pumps Sometimes, simpler is better. That’s why so many Sleep Number bed reviews list equipment malfunctions as their biggest complaint. The most common mechanical problem associated with Select Comfort beds isn’t a leaky air bladder, it’s a malfunctioning pump system or valve. When these are broken, that exit point is perfect for allowing air to escape the bed or moisture to get in. On top of this, the bed needs to be plugged in thanks to its mechanical parts. That means if the power goes out, so does your bed. A Slanted Bed Most customers don’t see their valves fall off or their air bladders instantly start deflating, but many do complain about the slanted bed problem. Basically, if one side of the bed is filled all the way up and the other side is set to a very soft setting, the bed will slant. The other issue is often referred to as “trench bed.” This happens when both sides are fully inflated. This creates a trench in the middle of the bed that couples can easily roll in to. Mold Issues After reading a number of Sleep Number Bed reviews, it became apparent that mold can be a serious problem with these beds. In fact, Select Comfort is currently battling several lawsuits about mold growing inside the mattresses. Thanks to the Sleep Number design, the beds suck in air, but that air can’t escape. That means that when moisture is sucked inside the bed, it also can’t escape. This formula can lead to a serious mold problem. Not all Sleep Number bed reviews are bad, but the customer complaints tend to always be the same – air leaks, a slanted mattress, mechanical problems and that elusive issue of mold. Before you buy, always read the reviews. All Site Articles for Mattress & Bed Tips
