Mattress & Bed Tips :: Memory Foam Mattress Pads Memory Foam Mattress Pads: A Review of Popular Memory Foam Mattress Toppers and PadsMemory Foam mattress pads are a quick and affordable way to turn an old or uncomfortable mattress into an oasis of comfort. However, not all Memory Foam is created equal, so keep reading for a review of some of the most popular brands and models of Memory Foam mattress toppers. Canopy Hypoallergenic Memory Foam Mattress Pads Canopy, an affordable quality brand carried by retailers like Wal-Mart, recently released a popular 4” memory foam mattress topper. The pad is made from 3-lb density Memory Foam and is a great budget solution for those who are looking for the comfort of memory foam without the expense. Their 4” model consists of two layers – the first is a 2.5” layer of basic foam designed to support the body which is topped by a 1.5” Memory Foam layer. So, while the product is advertised as a 4” Memory Foam mattress pad, it’s important to note that it’s not a full four inches of memory foams. Overall, this is a softer pad and better for sleepers who prefer a softer surface over firm support. Serta 3-Pound Memory Foam Mattress Topper At an affordable $110, the Serta 1.5” thick Memory Foam mattress pad is well-made and wholly constructed from Memory Foam. While not as thick as other models, the Serta 1.5” model does offer enough coverage to prolong the life of your mattress and add a little extra support. Customers who want the full Memory Foam experience though may want to upgrade to a thicker model. Absolute Comfort’s 4” Memory Foam Mattress Topper One of the best features of Absolute Comfort’s Memory Foam mattress pads are that they come with an attached bed skirt designed to hug the mattress and keep the pad in place. Too often, mattress pads will shift around and need to be adjusted on a regular basis. This isn’t the case with the Absolute Comfort model. However, that convenience comes with a higher price tag. You can expect to pay between $200 and $250 for one of these pads. Personal Expressions 2” Memory Foam Mattress Pad With a full 2 inches of Memory Foam support, this pad provides the most Memory Foam for your dollar at just over $150 at Sears. One major drawback though is that foam is untreated, meaning it tends to yellow quickly. Expect this pad to go from pristine white to slightly yellowed with long-term use, especially if you’re partial to night sweats. Visco 3” Memory Foam Mattress Topper The Visco excels at comfort and staying in place, but it’s a little bit too small for complete coverage. If you have a slightly longer or wider mattress than standard or have a tendency to get right to the edge of your bed, you’ll definitely want to buy a size up with this model. If you buy a size up, you can simply trims the excess off these memory foam mattress pads to fit your bed’s measurements. This tip works with every brand, not just the Visco model.
