Mattress Genie’s Prices
The genie’s inflatable wedge sells for anywhere from $79 to $149 depending on the retailer, the discount and the size of the mattress. Expect to pay about $129-$139 from an outside retailer or from $89.99 to $159.99 if you buy directly from Contour Cloud, the product’s manufacturers.
So, yes, the price is very reasonable and much cheaper than buying an adjustable bed. However, you sometimes get what you pay for.
Quality of the Genie
After reading multiple customer reviews from retailers like Walgreens and Amazon and review sites like Viewpoint.com, it’s evident that the Mattress Genie is perfect if you’re looking for a short-term (3-6 month) adjustable bed solution.
For example, if you’re returning home from the hospital or dealing with acid reflux and need a temporary upright bed solution – it’s perfect.
If you’re looking for an adjustable bed solution that’s never going to leak and will last for decades, you may want to look for a product that’s more permanent.
That, most reviewers found the product to work well and gave it excellent reviews, especially for the price.
Noise Levels
Noise is where the Mattress Genie fails. Contour Cloud, the manufacturing company, advertises the product as very quiet. Unfortunately, most people describe it as quite loud and comparable to a hair dryer or full-power vacuum cleaner.
This is not a product that will inflate quietly while your partner sleeps peacefully beside you. Instead, expect the Genie to take one long and very noisy minute to inflate.
Comfort of the Mattress Genie
As long as the Genie is inflating uniformly and not leaking or deflating, it’s as comfortable as your own mattress. You can control the inflation levels, meaning you can set the elevation to a level that’s comfortable for you.
Genie Specs
The Genie can elevate your mattress up to 40 degrees, or about 26 inches. It can lift up to 1,000 pounds and works in small spaces or places where adjustable beds are not practical, like RVs, boats or hotels.
The Mattress Genie is comprised of three main parts – the air bladder, the pump and the remote control. When the remote control is pressed, the pump engages and fills the air bladder with air. As the Genie inflates, it raises the mattress.
The bladder is made from a ballistic nylon PVC material with double-welded seams.
