Mattress & Bed Tips :: Matress Giant Matress Giant: A Giant Review of Matress GiantMatress Giant started operations in Florida over 25 years ago. Today, they’re the fourth largest mattress retailer in the United States with over 360 locations across 14 states. The store sells both their own brands and other popular, national brands like Sealy, Tempur-Pedic, Serta, Comforpedic, AirSprung and more. For a full review of the store’s customer service, financing and policies, keep reading. Customer Satisfaction Programs and Return Policy One of the biggest selling points about Matress Giant is their 30-day guarantee. Because it can sometimes be hard to choose a bed in a store, they’ll actually let you take a mattress home and give you 30 days to return it with no questions asked if you don’t like it. However, this policy only offers exchanges and will not let you return the bed for a full refund. Another drawback is the fine print stipulation that Matress Giant retains sole discretion over whether it will allow customer to exchange a bed. Finally, their information on the exchange policy is all over the map. One part of the website claims customers have 90 days, another suggests that total is 30 to 45 days and a quick phone call to one of their stores suggested it was “at their discretion.” For a store that prides itself on this sleep-on-it guarantee, they sure do make customers wonder if they’re actually going to follow through on their promise. Financing Matress Giant does offer financing to its customer, but the rates can be deceivingly high. On approved credit, the company offers 0% financing for 48 months, but otherwise it’s a hefty 20 to 25% interest rate, which is too much to pay for any form of financing. Customer Service Overall, Matress Giant provides friendly customer service. However, it’s important to note that their sales staff work on a commission-based model, meaning they’re eager to sell you a mattress. If you get turned off by pushy sales people and an aggressive sales force, this may not be the store for you. But, you shop at their online store which typically has all the deals without any of the pressure. Conclusion Matress Giant is a respected retailer that offers very low prices on good mattresses. However, their exchange and warranty policy is too vague and their financing program lacks options. If you’re spending over a thousand dollars with a company, you should be able to expect that their return and exchange policy is clearly laid out and well defined in writing before you put down your money. Matress Giant needs to do that if they really want to succeed at customer service. See also: All Site Articles for Mattress & Bed Tips
